“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:25 (NLT)
Have you ever met someone who you instantly felt good around? There are some women that are just a breath of fresh air – they stand out from all the rest. I’ve often wondered what it is that makes me so drawn to them, and I’ve made this connection: she laughs.
Not just the “haha” laughter nor the lack of sadness on their faces – it’s something much deeper than that. It’s a weightlessness they give off. Their “laughter” is more of an external exuberance drawn from an internal security. It’s who they are consistently on the inside that releases a strength on the outside.
These women are able to stare the enemy in the face with fearlessness and say “don’t even think about it”. They constantly claim truth over their lives, as they know who and Whose they are. Their feet are firmly planted in Jesus and they do not sway when the wind blows. We are drawn to women like this and often latch onto them for relief during our storms.
You might wonder how in the world someone could be so steadfast in the midst of chaos, and the only answer is Jesus. When our lives are fully surrendered and our hearts are completed entrusted to Him, there’s this freedom that takes place. We see life in a different way. It’s not about what we do or don’t do – it’s simply about who Jesus is. Our outlook on life is good because our lives are securely nestled in the hands of the One who is entirely good.
It is completely possible for you to become the “she laughs” woman too, sweet friend. You don’t have to fall apart when there aren’t enough of these women around you to speak life into you and encourage you. You can be one yourself.
I don’t have the perfect formula, because there isn’t one. It’s all Jesus. You have to personally make the choice to place your fears into His hands and accept His freedom and peace. You have to choose to hold captive every thought that doesn’t line up with what the Bible says about your future. Do this for yourself, but know that there are so many others who will be blessed by your laughter and joy. As you have been drawn to those who laugh, others will be drawn to you.
I pray that you will not only be filled with peace but also that your laughter will be lasting and that your joy will encourage more people than you could ever imagine. I pray that as you are freed, you will help free others by leading them to the source of your joy, your strength and your hope. Laugh, sweet girl, for your future is secure in Jesus.
