Pesto-Marinara Pizza From Scratch

Homemade pizza is one of the best things ever. It’s just how you want it and you know what you put into it! Not to mention…it’s fresh! Making food from scratch can be really fun if the recipe is simple enough and you’ve got all of your ingredients ready to go!

I experimented one night with this pizza and my husband and I both loved it! I hope you enjoy this recipe! Feel free to add or subtract any ingredients, as this will be your pizza!

INGREDIENTS FOR CRUST:

– 3 cups of flour

– 1 tbsp yeast

– 1 tbsp sugar

– 1tbsp olive oil

– 2 tsp salt

– 9 fl oz warm water

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Put flour in a large mixing bowl, making a “well” in the center. Add in the rest of the ingredients and stir until completely combined. On a lightly-floured surface, knead dough for 5-10 minutes until a smooth ball forms. Let dough sit in a bowl covered with a warm cloth for about 25-30 minutes. Roll out into a pizza shape. Spray cookie sheet with cooking oil and place pizza dough onto sheet.

INGREDIENTS FOR SAUCE & TOPPINGS:

– 1 cup pesto

– 4 or 5 big and squishy tomatoes

– 3 tbsp olive oil

– 1 tbsp minced garlic

– dash of oregano

– salt and pepper to taste

– salami

– pepperoni

– mushrooms

– green onions

– tomatoes (chopped)

– shredded mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS:

In a pan, combine pesto and olive oil on medium-low heat. Purée 4 to 5 tomatoes and add into pan. Add minced garlic, oregano and salt & pepper. Stir often. Remove from heat after 10 minutes. Spread over pizza crust and add cheese, then your toppings and a little bit more cheese on top. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Enjoy!
